The modern porcelain “Fu Gui Hong” stamped with “Dehua Porcelain Capital” and “Xu Shaodong” was finally given a reference price of 45,000 RMB by Zhangning, an expert in the field of porcelain after several rounds of guessing in the program of “Treasure Appraisal” on CCTV-2 on 23rd Aug.
Starting point of career ---a good wife
Like many Dehua people, Mr. Xu collected and sold some minor porcelain goods in Hangzhou and Shanghai after graduation in 1991.
“Nobody knows Dehua. They look down up them because they take porcelain as plaster.” Sometimes Xu had to break the porcelain into pieces to show what porcelain was. Xu’s decision to create a brand name came into being because of this painful experience.
Half a year later, Xu went back to work in a factory. 3 or 4 months later, he resigned. From then on, he set up 2 workshops successively to produce daily porcelain such as cups etc.
His failure to get back his payment for goods in 2000 led to his bankruptcy. Again, history reaped itself. This time, He chose the city of Wuhan, an inland transportation and commercial centre. To his great disappointment, the locals still knew nothing about porcelain though 10 years had passed since he left Shanghai. The local businessmen just bought on credit. In 3 months, Xu was owed 30,000 RMB! This experience consolidated his belief to create a brand of his own.
He failed again in Wuhan and went back to Dehua as a pauper. He had nothing except debt. Luckily, he became acquainted with a Hubei girl, who later became his wife, one who promised to share happiness and sorrow in the rest of his life.
